Weve come to the end of another weekend which was a good one for me. Fishing on the jetty in Cameron with dad and two friends from church was fun but the highlight of the day was the few hours I got to spend with a sixth grader who was on the pier. He was there with family watching us catch fish with a real look of desire to have a chance to try his luck. When I asked if he wanted to fish he hesitated but said no. A few minutes later I asked him to hold my pole while I helped someone get untangled, thats all it took. Although he kept getting backlashes I was able to untangle them and he caught several fish. After one particularly bad backlash he said he was having a bad day. I asked him why and he said he kept hanging up and messing up throwing it out. I reminded him we were out fishing on a nice day, we fixed whatever issues came up and got back to catching fish, I didnt call that a bad day. I was then able to tell him about how Jesus helped me when my day didnt go the way I planned and the joy that I have because I know He loves me. The smile that came across his face when he realized I was not worried about the troubles he caused was only eclipsed at the end of the day when he extended his hand to me and said thank you for talking to me. Im glad he caught fish but more so for the difficulties we worked through that showed him he is never alone. Then at church I met some UL students from Venezuela. They have been here right at a month, working hard to learn English. I was touched by the look of isolation on their faces due to the language barrier even as they were surrounded by hundreds of people. My heart went out to them and so an invitation to dinner and bible study Saturday night was offered and accepted. Then tonight at prayer one asked me if he could bring two more! God is good. Again its been a good weekend and now I get to look forward to ministering all week to those The Lord has entrusted to our hospice team. I feel blessed that I dont dread going to work on Mondays, even after such a weekend.
