Weve done it – Summer Camp 2014 if finally over! It has to be said that it was the best Summer Camp weve ever had. The weather was excellent, the cadets were exceptional and the staff were great in every way. We managed some 900 training days, over 200 qualifications and a cracking sun tan. Thats what the real cadet experience is all about and Id like to thank all the cadets that attended. You should be very proud of your achievements; you’re a credit to your units. Id like to pay special thanks to Lt Debbie Paterson for her support, loyalty and commitment over the last few years as my First Lieutenant. To PO Raz Rasmussen for all his help and assistance in the run up to camp, during camp and the aftermath that usually takes hold. His ability to put a smile on everyone’s face is remarkable and he’s a true friend. RPO Graham Gregory (HMS COLLINGWOOD – Naval Police Service) for acting as our Naval Base Liaison. His networking abilities within HM Naval Base are much appreciated and he seemed to have a master key to many doors. PO Mark Harrison from HMNB Clyde for his assistance in the paddlesport team. A loss to Chester-le-Street was definitely our gain. To all the Divisional team, activity staff, logistics team and all the others who made the camp period and excellent experience – thank you. To all you cadets – you’re behaviour was exemplary and you should be very proud of all your achievements. The Sods Opera on Thursday evening was very entertaining and your input to the fancy dress parade was nothing short of amazing. A big thank you to LT CDR Alfie Simpson for the use of the boats from Derwenthaugh Boat station and his support in the run up to camp. To all the other Commanding Officer who allowed us the use of boats and equipment – without this support, we’d be lost. To the staff at Garelochhead Training Camp, The Commanding Officer of HMS NEPTUNE and all the staff at the Base Sailing Centre, the manager and staff at the Clyde Offsite Centre, the Rhu Marina staff for their help and support and the National Park Ranger Service at Loch Lomond. And finally, to my family who have supported me, supporting you. We had a ball over the years and I hope you’re all looking forward to Camp 2015. Well that’s it from me – Out!
