We’re taking some shorter odds here as we’ve seen some strange things happen in WCQ games, so we’re playing cautious in these games. Sport: Soccer (WCQ) Market: USA @ Panama Pick: UNDER 2 ½ goals Odds: $1.61 Agency: Betfair Wager: 2 Units Analysis: With the United States firmly locked in the top spot and Panama needing a win, theres no hiding that these two foes have very different mindsets heading in. But that wont stop Jurgen Klinsmann from playing his best guys, for the most part. However he will be without arguably his two best players with Michael Bradley and Clint Dempsey both ruled out of the final WCQ games. The US beat Jamaica 2-0 without these two stars and are in good form, but that game was played in the US and Jamaica didn’t really have much to play for. The US team will also be without first team players Tim howard, Matt Besler, DaMarcus Beasley, Jermaine Jones and Landon Donovan. On Tuesday, theyll face a Panama team not only looking to get into the World Cup, but looking to reverse a two-goal deficit to Mexico in the ever-important goal differential. Whilst normally this would lead us to be backing the OVERs, in this situation we think the US will want to show a solid defensive effort and could even shut up shop and grind out a 0-0 draw here. Theres no doubt that Klinsmann will have his guys ready to go despite the low stakes, especially considering the amount of work theyll need to put in over the next few months to have any conceivable shot at making noise next summer in Brazil. The Panamanians offered little resistance when these teams met in Seattle in June, but that 2-0 USA victory saw a Panama side missing several key starters, including the talismanic Perez, who has enjoyed his share of success against the USA in the past. Panama will be desperate for goals, but that rarely results in goals and more often leads to missed opportunities, some blazing away at goals and turnovers on overly ambitious plays. So we think this one will be a low scoring game. Take the UNDER 2 ½ goals here for 2 units. Sport: Soccer (WCQ) Market: Liechtenstein @ Greece Pick: Liechtenstein +3 ½ goals Odds: $1.58 Agency: Bet365 Wager: 2 Units Analysis: While there is no doubt a huge gap in class between these two sides, recent results would suggest that the gulf is not as big as it would seem. These two sides faced off a month ago and although this one is played in Greece, that game ended in a very tight game that Greece managed to pinch 1-0. While the Greeks have been winning matches, in their past 5 games (including the game against Liechtenstein) , the results have been 1-0, 2-0, 1-0, 1-0, 1-0 so whilst they have been winning, they have been struggling to put goals on the board. The Greeks will likely have a full team to choose from and will field a strong team as the group has not yet been finalised and Greece must win this one. That will produce it’s own pressure though and Greece have been struggling to score. Liechtenstein haven’t been in terrible form, despite not yet winning a group match. They have had 1 goal losses to both Greece and Croatia and drew Lithuania, in their last match they lost 4-1 to Bosnia & Herzegovina. So in all 5 of their past matches, they would have covered this line. It’s a lot of goals to give up for a team that is averaging 1.2 goals for in it’s past 5 matches. Take Liechtenstein +3 ½ goals in this one for 2 units. Sport: Soccer (WCQ) Market: Northern Ireland @ Israel Pick: Israel Win Odds: $1.58 Agency: Betfair Wager: 2 Units Analysis: Although both teams come into this in not the greatest of form, we like Israel in this match up. The green and white army have suffered poor losses in the past two games, losing to lowly Azerbaijan 2-0 and Luxembourg 3-2. Israel are coming off a respectable 1-1 draw with Portugal which should be good enough form to win this. Israel beat Northern Ireland 2-0 in March earlier this year last time they met. Neither of these teams can progress from the group stage but both teams will be throwing everything at this game to try and salvage a win. Israel should be too good here, take them to win for 2 units. #EasyMoney
