We’ve been greatly saddened to hear about an incident that’s left 28-year-old rider and mother Lindsay Hawkins in a critical condition in hospital. Lindsay fell when youths threw stones at her horse at 5:45pm on Saturday 17 May near Duke of Norfolk Lane in Wickersley, near Rotherham. BHS Director of Policy Lee Hackett says, This incident is genuinely one of the most shocking and appalling that the BHS has come across. Our thoughts are very much with the rider involved and her friends and family. We are willing her to make a full and speedy recovery. Anybody who has any information at all really must contact South Yorkshire Police or Crimestoppers. It is vital that those responsible for this disgraceful act are found so that they cannot put the lives of any more horses and riders at risk. Anyone with any information about the incident is urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 1204 of 17 May, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
