We’ve noticed lots of conversations in the community about the proposed Highway Service Centre at Colo Vale currently on exhibition, which is great! We look forward to reading all of the submissions and encourage everyone to have their say on this proposed development. Just to clarify a few things we’ve been reading: On the 12 June 2013 Wingecarribee Shire Council resolved: 1. THAT Council resolve to not support the submission to permit a highway service centre on Lot 2 DP1010179, 1-9 Church Avenue, Colo Vale. 2. THAT the applicant and property owners be informed of Council’s decision. The planning proposal has since been through the NSW Department of Planning and Environment Planning Proposal Review process. This process required the Planning Proposal to be assessed independently by the Joint Regional Planning Panel (JRPP). The JRPP saw merit in the proposal and advised the Department of Planning and Environment accordingly. As a result of this review process, the NSW Department of Planning and Environment issued a Gateway Determination, which requires Council to do certain things. One of the conditions is to meet the conditions of community consultation for a period of 28 days. This community consultation process is currently underway. All ratepayers in the immediate area have been posted a letter this week with information about the proposal. If you haven’t received a letter (for example, if you are renting or living outside the immediate area), you can find all the information on our website: wsc.nsw.gov.au/planning-proposal-church-avenue-colo-vale Council has not rezoned any land at this stage and the proposal has not been pushed through without community consultation. Right now is the time to have your say, and we would love to receive your submissions on the proposal in writing or via email. Please note that statements on Facebook are not considered submissions. All the information you require to make a submission is on our website. All of these submissions will be considered when the proposal is returned back to Council for consideration – this means a report will be prepared for councillors and they will make a final vote on the matter, ie. to support or not support. The proposal is on exhibition until 24 October – please make sure you have your say before this date! Please read through the information on our website at the above link for details on how to send us your submission, or you can contact us on 4868 0888.
