We’ve talked about how restaurant menus are designed to lead your eye to items of the restaurant’s choice. That might be a high markup entrée or a special on ingredients the chef finds too plentiful in the fridge. What if there was a grocery shopping cart with a screen inviting you to enter your ID and would then show a list of the things you typically pick up? What if it went further and made suggestions based on your purchase of, say, wine, and hinted at a special on brie? This technology exists and is being tried in the field.
