What I need to remind damned near everybody in my life whos already been there, done that with college: I have finals coming up and need to study; what part about that dont you understand? College is not the same as it was 20 or even 10 years ago. Theres a lot more required and at stake, especially for those who no longer can afford the luxury of easily taking out private loans because the economy coupled with peoples complaints made lenders raise the bar on those who can or cant borrow privately for school. Thus, the pressure to maintain merit-based scholarships is overwhelming: Its I either make the grade or I drop out of school because I cant afford it without those scholarships. And I dont want to drop out over money. Yes, what Im saying is that not everyone can afford higher education, and its a lie to believe that college is available to everyone. If you consider solely the two-year community colleges as higher education, think again, because its simply going to get you jobs you could have gotten 10 or 20 years ago with just a high school diploma. Nowadays, the bars are raised on everything within the infrastructure as we know it. So, when I say that I dont have time, or that Im busy studying, or that the spare time I do have to hang out needs to be stress-free, I mean it. I dont need compounded negative stress to break me academically. Im ignoring every selfish person who thinks it is easy for me, or takes me away from my goals to upwardly mobilize and procure an education that will get me somewhere up the ladder, not laterally. I refuse to remain stuck, classwise.
