What Is Cinema? B+ Im all for documentaries about film so that is the main reason this film by Chuck Workman gets a B+ from me. Honestly, Workman focuses a bit too much on the idea of cinema rather than cinema itself and when he does talk about the films there is an over abundance of really obscure experimental filmmakers that are talked about (Im not talking about Maya Deren or Stan Brakhage. Some of these are filmmakers Ive never heard of) and a long segment on Mike Leigh and a shorter segment on Kelly Reichardt (both really good) but thats about it. Compared to Mark Cousins The Story of Film, this is inferior and slight. But its still a doc on film and I love docs on film so I still give it a B+ lol :p
