What Is Your Calling? Is God calling you for a special ministry - TopicsExpress

What Is Your Calling? Is God calling you for a special ministry work? Everyone of us, who have been saved in Jesus Christ, has a special work to do for God. Some of us have had the Lord speak to us in our spirits, or in a vision. Others have had dreams, or other unusual experiences. The Apostle Paul came face to face with Jesus in an awesome calling on his life. About noon, as I came near Damascus, suddenly a bright light from heaven flashed around me (Paul). I fell to the ground and heard a voice say to me, Saul! Saul! Why do you persecute Me (Jesus)? Who are You, Lord? I asked. I am Jesus of Nazareth, Whom you are persecuting, He replied. My companions saw the light, but they did not understand the voice of Him who was speaking to me. Acts 22:6-9 (NIV). Because of Pauls calling, he went from being a murderer to being a great apostle to the Gentiles. God had a great call on Moses and appeared to him in an unique way, as well. God summoned Moses to a burning bush, where The Lord gave Moses his instructions. So, Moses thought, I will go over and see this strange sight: why the bush does not burn up. When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, Moses! Moses! And Moses said, Here I am. Do not come any closer, God said. Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground. Then, He said, I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God. Exodus 3:3-6 (NIV). Moses went on to be used in a mighty way to bring the children of Israel out of 400 years of slave bondage in Egypt. The great Prophet Elijah, when he was getting old, went out to put a calling on his successor, Elisha, who was chosen by God to also be a prophet. So, Elijah went from there and found Elisha, son of Shaphat. He was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen, and he himself was driving the twelfth pair. Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak around him. 1 Kings 19:19 (NIV). Elisha went on to become a prophet with double the anointing that Elijah had on his life. When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you? Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit, Elisha replied. You have asked a difficult thing, Elijah said, yet if you see me when I am taken from you, it will be yours; otherwise, it will not. As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly, a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up to Heaven in a whirlwind. 2 Kings 2:9-11 (NIV). When Noah was called to do an unprecedented work in building an ark, God spoke to him in an audible voice: So, God said to Noah, I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. Genesis 6:13 (NIV). Noah, his wife, their three sons, and their three wives were used to bring righteousness over into the post flood world. By faith, Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear, built an ark to save his family. By his faith, he (Noah) condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith. Hebrews 11:7 (NIV). We are not all called to do mighty and awesome things in this world; but, we are all called to do something for the Kingdom of God, which is the blood washed saints in the Body of Christ, worldwide. What we do for one another is doing it for Jesus. The King (Jesus) will reply, Truly, I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for Me. Matthew 25:40 (NIV). We are all made in the image and likeness of God. God cares for every single creature that He has made. God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them. Hebrews 6:10 (NIV). There are many ways to help people. The first priority is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to to the world. Then, there are ministries of feeding, clothing, drilling water wells, building churches, providing bibles, soup kitchens, half way houses, orphanages, bible study leadership, missions worldwide, building schools, and myriads of other ministries. In the church, there are numerous ministries that are needed, in addition to the pastorate ministry. God also needs mentors, who will let people see Christ in them, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27. Mentors are Christians, who have been in the faith longer; and they can be so valuable in advising and encouraging others during this earthly pilgrimage that we are all going through. Being a helper to any of the ministries is also a vital part of keeping the ministries strong, both in the church and in the mission field. What has God called You to do? Seek the Lord in prayer. God has a job and a mission for everyone that is saved in Christ. And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is My disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward. Matthew 10:42, Mark 9:41 (NIV).
