What Major Nidal Malik Hasan did to the victims of his attack was horrible. What the Obama administration and the US Army have done to the survivors by ruling the attack "workplace violence" and denying them combat status is almost as bad. What Hasan did was an act of war on behalf of an enemy force. His victims deserve to be considered combat casualties, with all the benefits and respects that status carries.
