What NOT to do when questioned by the police... If an officer asks you to sit down, you sit down. In defense of the officer, he had a right to push the person. Please read all the way through because I have useful advice to share at the end of this message. At 25 seconds in to the video, the officer asked him to sit down. He responded by looking at the chair and then continued to stand and talk to the officer. At 29 seconds the officer pushed him. In my opinion, that was the wrong way to handle it. Not sitting when ordered to do so is an act of defiance, yes it is physical defiance. Dont argue with police. You can always choose to remain silent and not answer their questions. They can detain you but if they have nothing to hold against you, they will have to let you go. I would have sat down and asked if I was being detained. If they say no then I would ask for permission to leave. If they say yes then I would ask under what charges. At that point I can choose to remain silent. Saying anything else is only going to get you in to more trouble.
