What Republicans dont get is that Im less mad at them than I am a political system that allows us to continually ignore the fact that as society gets more complicated, we need more than land to live and more than guns to preserve our liberty. The government is a seen as the only legitimate guarantor of human rights, and yet it hasnt adapted to adequately protect these rights for a new age. To even articulate ones needs is to be cast off as a dependent, as of the market could provide all elements of life and freedom if you could just find a way to earn some money. The market is not a guarantor of freedom or life. Our government is. To address your grievances to the government is correct; to have your government tell you to turn to capitalism is failure to govern.
