What We Learned: Fernando Torres’ best game ever in Blues - TopicsExpress

What We Learned: Fernando Torres’ best game ever in Blues jersey! A big relief and huge celebration at Sunday’s big clash of the Billionaires of the EPL at Stamford Bridge. The game winner and Man Of The Match Fernando Torres carried the Blues of London to a huge win and a well deserved 3 points against Man City. Jose Mourinho couldn’t have asked for a better performance as a perfect, top performance by El Nino sealed the win. With yet another big game, this time a London derby against an in-form Arsenal coming this Tuesday in Capital One Cup, let’s analyze quickly the big takeaways from this massive win for the Blues. Perfect starting 11, Good striker choice, Good defensive partnership and IMPACT substitutes- Jose got it all perfect and lined up before the game to lead us to victory against his rival at the other dugout Manuel Pellegrini., 1. Good choice by Mou to select Torres upfront.. Jose Mourinho carried on with his striker from the last outing against FC Schalke in the mid- week away win in the Champions League by sticking with Nando. Torres didn’t disappoint by assisting the first goal for Schurrle and scoring the game winner in the 90th minute to send the Chelsea fans at the bridge on their feet and erupting with joy. Who will start against Arsenal on Tuesday? we will see that later on but, prediction is that Eto’o will get the nod ahead of Torres to give him break and maybe unleash him late on against the gunners. 2. Chances need to be taken seriously.. The Blues had the chance to kill the game early on in 1st half as Gary Cahill and Fernando Torres missed open chances on goal against Joe hart that surely could have put the game to bed. But, Aguero’s goal made it difficult for us if it was not for Torres’ late winner to sent a huge relief through all CFC fans. Mourinho certainly has got things to tell his players in that regard of taking chances and not squandering it. 3. Andre Schurrle displayed intelligence of German finishers… The German winger positioned himself very well for the opener as he got at the end of the assist by Torres. It was a great chance taken well by Schurrle who has adopted very well to the EPL that he gave Jose good reason to start him against the so-called ‘title favorites’ Manchester City. The German has a great chance to replicate the finishing touches of his great country men like Klose, Mueller, Beckenbaur and others in case if he plays upfront in some games. But, his play from either wing clearly suites the style of Jose Mourinho’s team and he is clearly on top of his form. 4. Mourinho’s team gelling well into plan… The Portuguese manager’s favored line-up of 4-2-3-1, counterattacking formation is coming off really good in the last two games as we succeed on stopping their dangerous attacks and hitting them on the counter as his previous Real Madrid used to last season and before against passing teams like Barca. That’s a true Jose master plan and it worked out perfectly against Man City. The transition to a 3-5-2 in desperate situations to win games can be applied in danger situations against teams that sit deep, but this looks fine and the best formation for us as also was shown against Bayern in super cup in August. 5. Fernando Torres played his perfect and best game in Chelsea shirt…clear MotM!! EL NINO silenced his critics once again and displayed a huge courage and passion for the blues in this big win by getting an assist and a goal for Chelsea. despite a great performance by Ivanovic, Schurrle, Oscar and Hazard; Fernando Torres is the clear choice for this game’s Man of the Match award and it looks as if he will continue this great form in the later stages of the season as we battle in all fronts for many trophies. Congrats for all fans and readers for this big win against our EPL title contenders. This put us in 2nd in the table comfortably and the title challenge for the Blues looks well on plan. With the two Manchester clubs in desperate situations in mid-table, its between the London clubs to battle it out for the EPL trophy even though we shouldn’t count out the two teams from Manchester. We will discuss a likely win against Arsenal in midweek game in capital one cup and thanks for reading. Follow on twitter -jla
