What a Discrepancy even biblical scholars and commentators are aware of !!!! Joab reported the number of people to the king. There were 800,000 capable warriors in Israel who could handle a sword, and 500,000 in Judah. (2 Samuels 24:9) __________________CONTRADICTION_________________________ And Joab gave the sum of the numbering of the people to David. In all Israel there were 1,100,000 men who drew the sword, and in Judah 470,000 who drew the sword. (1 chronicles 21:5) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- (read below how the commentator agrees theres a discrepancy which god wanted and there is not exact number) Pulpits commentary Verse 9. - There were in Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men that drew the sword; and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men. In Chronicles the numbers are, of Israel eleven hundred thousand men, and of Judah four hundred and sixty-five thousand men. These discrepancies are a remarkable confirmation of the truth of what is said in 1 Chronicles 27:24 that because of the outbreak of the Divine wrath, the number was not put in the account of the Chronicles of King David. Neither the writer of the Books of Samuel nor of Chronicles had any official document to refer to; and as the numbers are lump sums, and derived probably from what was said by the enumerators, Rashis commentary eight hundred thousand valiant men: Now in I Chronicles 21:5 it is written “one million, one hundred thousand.” In the Aggadah of the Amoraim [the post-Mishnaic rabbis of the Talmud] we find: R. Joshua the son of Levi said: The verses add here what they omitted elsewhere, [i.e.,] the two tribes that were not counted, for it is written in I Chronicles (2:6): But Levi and Benjamin he did not number among them; for the king’s word was abominable to Joab. Joab said, From these I can free myself by claiming that the tribe of Levi is not [to be] counted among the other tribes but from one month and above [while the other tribes were counted from ages twenty to fifty].............. We also have another problem Infact its a impossible problem How did Joab if not 1.5 million count 800.00 in the field?? Shows we are not the only ones who noticed the problems Even there scholars of the bible acknowledged....
