What a day! Its been all about the Copperheads today! First call - TopicsExpress

What a day! Its been all about the Copperheads today! First call came first thing in the morning-injured snake, can I pick it up? Sure. By the time I got there, hed died from his injuries, such a shame cos he was a lovely little guy, hed been hit by a car, and the gentleman had tried for an hour to find someone to come check it out, so that was tops for persevering, & caring enough to keep trying! The second call, a young couple at Molesworth Id visited twice the previous day had spotted the elusive bugger again, & with 3 young children & a puppy, it was something I couldnt let go of easily... So it was everything crossed that by the time I arrived, he was still poking about. And YES! she was out, so popped her in a bag, & decided to keep dismantling the stone wall because the lady of the house was 100% positive the original snake was much larger...she went inside & was watching from the window while her partner & I worked on the wall...all of a sudden I hear its here, its right here! & down on the concrete path under the verandah, there he was, just cruising casually along the garden bed, totally out of sight of me & Wayne, as we were working higher up on a slight slope. Without Ashleys eagle eyes, we would have completely missed him! And yes, he was definitely much larger! Yay for teamwork, fantastic result! Breathed a big sigh of relief, as they did too. While releasing these guys at the creek, I returned to my car & was putting the bags away, when I spotted a lovely Tiger snake crossing a clearing, just metres off the road...went over, introduced myself, & then watched him wander off over into the cover. Nice & fat & shiny, I cant tell you what a pleasure it was to see him going about his business. And lastly...we had some people come up to check the snakes out at home, when Cyril decided he wasnt happy with his new girlfriend rejecting his advances & decided to make a meal of her instead. So after an unsuccessful dunking in a bucket of water we managed to safely pry her out of his mouth with a bank card. Hes in the single suite tonight! And yes, shes fine, she was a tad slimy, but washed her off & Im watching her happily cruising around the enclosure. Thank you to hubby for flawlessly following directions...honestly I dont know what Id do without him, hes priceless. Love him to bits :D
