What a great morning adventure I had. I was allowed into the inner sanctum - Special Collections and Archives at the University of Iowa Libraries. I was able to see and touch items from James L. “Rusty” Hevelin Collection of pulps, fanzines, convention materials, and science fiction books spanning the years from the 1930s to 2010. Peter Balestrieri, Curator, Science Fiction & Popular Culture, shared a tiny part of the collection with us and told great stories about the collection with us. And what a collection. I was joined by Corey Creekmur and Lisa Martincik and our Carol Spaziani Intellectual Freedom Festival speaker, Carol Tilley I just sat there and soaking in the all of the discussion.
