What a great time at Crosswind Community Church! many lives were impacted! Here is part of the message...Are You Living Larger Than Life or is Life Living Larger than you? Breaking Through to the Blessed Life! The Prayer of Jabez 1Chron.4:9-10, Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother named him Jabez saying, Because I bore him with pain. Now Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and that You would keep me from harm that it may not pain me! And God granted him what he requested! Jabez wanted more out of life than he was experiencing. Can anyone here relate to that? Many of us can. It is the universal cry of humanity. The Broadway play, Sweet Charity, depicts the life of dance-hall girls. Night after night they dance with any man who has the money to buy their time. Their greatest hope, however, is that someone will come in and dance them into a new life. Night after night they sing, “There’s got to be something better than this.” Have you ever felt what they were feeling? The prayer of Jabez was not a Magic Genni prayer.... just say this prayer and get your wish! The reason Jabez prayed so boldly was because He was a man with a PURPOSE... a DESTINY! He asked big prayers because he needed to accomplish a BIG MISSION! 1) The School of Scribes - the Adam Clarke Commentary points out, Jabez instituted a school of disciples; and their hymns were like trumpets; Sending out the word of the Lord in their generation! 2) Called to wage war against the Philistines! What would you pray for if you knew that you could not fail? What have you dreamed about, but dismissed because you thought it was an impossible dream? Begin to pray for the hand of God to be upon your life so that you can accomplish something great for him. Hopefully, it will be something so great that when it comes to pass, you and everyone else will have to say, “This had to be the hand of God, because there is no way I could have done this by myself!” ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Three boundaries we need enlarged … - Expand our Hearing … to be more influential. - Expand our Heart … to be more responsible. - Expand our Heralding (Take Action) … to be more opportunistic exporting the principles and practices of the Gospel. Define your God given mission, purpose or destiny.... Then step out and pray the prayer of Jabez asking God to create and provide for your purpose to be accomplished to bring God Honor!
