What a load of spin doctoring hype, I doubt the rhetoric very much. I notice there is no mention of the surplus of housing that was built during the Mad Hatter Celtic Tiger Tea Party years; where has all that gone??? We know theres a multitude of apartments empty in the city and suburbia, why arent these factored in? We had enough housing during the Celtic Tiger years to accommodate every one, and with a million or so less of a population now than then, how come we have a housing shortage? Arent we just ignoring the fact that Dublin is saturated with buildings, and any new building should be shelved till all readily available accommodation is utilized! Shouldnt we really be thinking of relocating the Capital as it is so saturated, contributing as it does to the decline of rural developments, and the services industry that holds rural communities together! And shouldnt we stop the buying up of properties by greedy speculators for the sole purpose or rack renting! We have half the population we had during The Great Hunger, a thousand times more accommodation, mass emigration, and we have a housing shortage. Are you serious Mr Kenny?
