What a long day, but it was so well worth it! They believe that - TopicsExpress

What a long day, but it was so well worth it! They believe that Lil Bit is a younger dog. She has early onset tooth decay probably from malnutrition and being emaciated. She is also up to 2.99lbs. She only has one visible heart-worm in her pulmonary artery. Her legs are operable once her heart-worm issue is resolved with medications. The surgery will be a tedious procedure since she is so small. Some of her bones are as narrow as toothpicks.Tiny plates and screws will be placed in both legs. Bone will have to be taken from her shoulder area or from a donor to fill the gaps where her bones were broken. She has an issue with her back legs, nothing major, and hopefully that will improve with proper nutrition and good love and care. Over time her bone density and muscle tone will all strengthen. She will be on a regiment of antibiotics and steroids for a month. Her surgery will be in early October. After all of that she will still need to be spayed and have dental work. Her ear infection is clearing up though. Despite all of these setbacks her overall health is great, and her blood-work is excellent. Her spirit was never broken though, and she has such a wonderful life ahead of her! She is so loving and has a wonderful disposition. She deserves the best that life has to offer! We have came so far in just two short weeks, but we have a long road ahead. The best part is that the horizon is looking better everyday. I feel like the Grinch on Christmas Day, because my heart feels so much bigger! All of you have restored my faith in mankind! Of course its not about me, its about all of these sweet babies. Its about what we can do to make a difference, not just for Lil Bit, but for all babies (dogs and cats) at our local shelter. We will need to raise $4,000-5000 more for Lil Bit. I know that we can do this for her. Through fundraisers and donations this is going to happen, I just know it! If everyone helps just a little in any way that they possibly can we can move mountains! Spread the word about Lil Bit, donate (no amount is too small), come to fundraisers, and tell all of your friends. Lil Bit is going to bring awareness to this county about neglect, abuse, and the dumping of pets. How did this get to be such a problem, and what can we do to bring about change? We have to begin at the core and teach the youth in our community about the responsibility of pet ownership and get them involved. We are going to rock this county beginning in the fall, please stay tuned! ;) Lil Bit came home, ate like a little horse, went to potty, and now it is siesta time once again! She sends all of you her love and thanks! We will post videos and pictures this weekend!
