What a strange day. It started off by bird watching and berry picking at Minto Brown. We picked huge blackberries that stained our hands, found a bunch of obsidian, smelled wild sweet peas and headed to the creek to scope out more wildlife. While we were there I noticed something floating in the water. I told the kids to step back while I looked closer. It was decaying flesh of some sort and looked to have no hair. I forgot my cell phone so we drove home to call the non-emergency number. Only a few minutes after reporting the sighting, a friendly Salem PD officer gave me a call. Thankfully my detective work uncovered (cue the dramatic music)....a cat. Im so glad it wasnt a child as well as thankful it wasnt me who had to get a closer look. That was enough excitement for one day for this Forensic Catologist.
