What a trip!! Mother Nature threw everything she had at us other than snow to effect the bite. Our initial goal was to work on Swimbaits and the Spinbait tactics. After a few hours of trying to force the fish to eat them I made the call to throw in the towel on that idea due to 30mph winds and post front weather. Slowed way down flat soaking Senko baits on outside grass lines. Within 15 mins of doing that the first fish was in the boat. I put the rod down and worked with getting him bit. He did catch the biggest fish hes ever caught as promised but it was a 25-30 lb drum(he didnt say it had to be a bass lol jk). We then moved and worked on tactics the last hour or so but nothing to show for it. It wasnt from a lack of effort by any means. It was one of those hard choices I had to make as a guide. Teach the client a way to catch fish on new tactics for later use OR throw what he already knew just to boat fish. Id rather give my guys the tools to have new ways to catch them than just toss baits they know just to catch keepers and get nothing from the trip that he could have done on his own. Its all about learning for the future situations.
