What a weekend !! Loads of emotions !! Most of them good ones !! Returning to Chasewater for the first time in 15 years !! The weather wasnt on its best behaviour but in the true British spirit everybody soldiered on !! Ben qualified on pole and proceeded to win all 3 heats. This overall win giving him an un catchable lead in the overall championship with one round to go. This is his 13th British Title in his 12th season of racing !! This British Championship has still to be confirmed by the relevant bodies and officials !! Prize giving brought another surprise !! Mervyn Ainge a long time supporter of powerboat racing in the UK unfortunately lost his battle to a long illness a couple of weeks ago and his widow Pat had given a trophy to be awarded on an annual basis in memory of her husband. Pat had raced herself in F4 and had decided that the trophy should be given to the winner of the F4S class !! So Ben became the first recipient of this beautiful shield ! I have to be honest in that it brought tears to our eyes as he received the trophy from Pat but what meant a lot to me personally is that Mum & Dad were there to see it because Dad & Mervyn had worked together for many years to help our sport !!! Theres a couple of people without whom we would not be able to keep this level of success going !! Their commitment to Ben is unbelievable !! Dicky & Claire Dyer thank you so much !!! Abbie Brewer for coming into his life and giving him the focus and belief in himself !! Jason & Julie Brewer,Luke Jones & Stuart Mclaren for what you do for the sport !! All our extended powerboat family who have helped and advised him over the years. Im not going to name individuals because the list would be too long but you all know who you are !! Christen Molgaard for an unbelievable boat, Winrace Propellers, NB Engineering, Dave at Steel Developments, Nico & Bea at Van Akelyn services, and finally Oil & Waste Management. Finally a big thank you to all the officials, rescue teams etc who enable us to compete in the sport we all love !!i I forgot to mention Stella !! Ben now has 2 loves in his life !!!
