What an amazing community we have here is Washington. The Nations (native american indian tribe) sold a huge herd of rounded up mare, foal and stallions which was sold to a kill buyer who will ship all but the foals. These fine folks are lined up to take the foals in lieu of them being killed or sold for veal. It is a tough deal all around. On one hand I am at least grateful the Nations are letting the herds be rounded up. They have been notorious for fencing in, starving and dehydrating the herds to death because kill buyers wont bother with the wild horses and they wont or dont have means to appropriate proper care (castration) of their herds. I pray none of these foals are ever bred. Thank God to those donors, haulers and adopters for stepping up.
