What an amazing day today, meeting a couple of the superheroes of Mayo SPCA. My admiration is just limitless. To see the worst, hear the cries of the hurt, the lies of the uncaring, even have to put up with abuse from ignorant, selfish humans, yet every day get up and keep going, not for themselves, not for any human, but for the animals. Every turn seems to be another obstacle, from the government or official bodies, to the endless lack of funds. So much work put in, to make a few euros, to put be right into the care of those creatures under their care. And it is 100% voluntary! They dont get paid, unlike some charities, they dont pay people to do collections, they arent wealthy, they are people who care, who dont sit back and let horrible things happen to defenceless creatures, if they can help it. Its hard, often dirty, heartbreaking work, but every day, those animals have someone to count on, they know she will come with food and cuddles, with medicine, and eventually they will finally have their very own, loving, forever home. to me and them, there is just one word Superhero :) youtube/watch?v=0y7ygEDRpSo
