What an awesome morning we had at our Kickin Asphalt 5k Run at Emerald Ridge High School! Our athletes did amazing and handled the steep hills of the course like champs! The run started on the track where the athletes ran the first mile of the race. Then they exited the track and followed the rest of the 5k cross-country course through some steep hills, narrow passages, complete with water stations, signs, and awesome Iron Bar family members ready to cheer them on! Thank you to Char Krause and Emerald Ridge High School for allowing us to use the track and their cross-country course. It made for a super fun run with an interesting view... did anyone notice the famous Shoe Tree?? Thank you to all our volunteers who helped plan the event and showed up extra early today to make sure everything went smoothly: Susie, Sara, Jenn and the Parks crew, Ashley H, Paulla, Ashley R, Wendy, Kate, Drew (who ended up test running the course!), Nigelle, and Ben.... hopefully I got everyone. A special thank you to David and Katrina who worked hard behind the scenes to help ensure this event would be a success! Your efforts are always noticed and greatly appreciated! These events would not be possible without the help and support of all our volunteers and I truly appreciate it! Thank you to my coaches who worked to help plan, organize and carry out this event: Abbie and Tahia! We have an amazing crew at The Iron Bar and Im so grateful for all their help and dedication to making our gym the best gym around! Thank you to our sponsors who generously donated items for our athlete swag bags and prizes for our Selfie Challenge: Sportsman Warehouse, South Sound Running, Culpeppers and Arbonne. Thank you also to JP, otherwise renamed as DJ Rollin Out, for bringing his DJ set up and pumping some jams for us and keeping everyone motivated! Last, but not least, thank you to all the athletes who participated! We had two events this summer: Our Summer Selfie Challenge and the Kickin Asphalt 5k Run. It takes a lot of courage to register for events and participate. These events are designed to help you step outside your comfort zone, work hard, realize goals, and understand that you are capable of more than you think you can do. They all did an amazing job and Im proud of each and every one of you! Photos are posted in the album: Kickin Asphalt 5k
