What are the dangers at the front of a horse....We know we can get - TopicsExpress

What are the dangers at the front of a horse....We know we can get knocked over if we stand in the blind spot at the front of a horse, or duck under the neck of a tied up horse. We can be struck by a front leg of a horse in fight mode or rearing, bitten (we have heard of people being scalped, and losing their nose!) or we can be trodden on if we dont have a horse which respects our space... But there is one other thing which is often forgotten about its front end. Many people have been knocked out cold by the horses head swinging and hitting them in their head. The horses head is approximately 5-9 kg of bone, which can be swung at great momentum during teeth filing, worming, or just if a horse is resisting having its head handled. Being hit in the head is a common injury around horses! Always being careful is a good principle...see this video where a stable hand was not watching where he was going and ignored the cone which was warning people about the horse in the stall: liveleak/view?i=cc4_1399931992
