What do all these programs have in common? They are viruses pretending to be anti-viruses. Just because a random programs tells you that you are infected, or I can help you fix/remove that, does not mean it does what it says. You can usually spot fake anti-viruses with boxes known as balloon tips that appear above the clock that says, you are infected. Another common trait is when it starts saying you all of a sudden have 100+ infections. Last, if it ever ask you to pay money before it removes the infection, then it is most likely a virus. Normally, they are built to get money from you, download more viruses, or disable you from doing certain actions on your computer. If you ever get something like this do not panic as 99% of the time the virus can be removed without losing any data. NEVER trust repair shops or Geek Squad when they says they need to format. reformat, or delete all your data to remove it.
