What do you do with Shawn Thornton at the end of the year? Thorny will be a 37 and a UFA. Bruins have Smith, Krug and Bartkowski as RFAs, Iggy as a UFA. Cap will go up maybe $4-5 million more. Do you bring Thorny back for another year? If you dont, who plays the 4th line wing? Do the Bs need an enforcer or do they have enough other players (Quaider, Boychuk, Chara, Looch, Campbell) willing to drop the gloves? I love Thorny; you could see the lift the team got when he was put back in the lineup during the Cup run back in 2011. However, his age and limited funds may not allow the Bs to bring him back. If hes willing to play for less, I say bring him back.
