What do you prefer, HAPPINESS OR JOY? Let us critically evaluate peoples perspective of both from various standpoints. 92% of everybody you meet on a daily basis crave for HAPPINESS. The question, WHY IS HAPPINESS NUMBER ONE PRIORITY TO PEOPLE? Well whether consciously or unconsciously, we all desire to have good things. Brand new cars, houses, fruitful businesses, highly paid jobs, good marriages, loving attention, marketable profession, business connections, growing ministries, good weather, well behaved children, financial security, healthiness, in love with someone you really like, and many more. HAPPINESS COMES BY HAPPENINGS OR POSITIVE EVENTS. Think about this scenario, when we celebrate our birthdays, people send messages and cards saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Why? Because it is a memorable day. However, after 24 hours, it becomes history. Another example when you have a new car or house, its always exciting. Hmmmm, A DREAM HOUSE!!!!! WOW!!!! However, you have bills to take care of; mortgage, repairs, city taxes, hydro & gas bills, and many other expenses that comes with it. Now the HAPPINESS GROOVE fades gradually away because REALITY HAS ARRIVED. Another case, you are just married, WOW!!!!! Big wedding and so many people came to celebrate with you. Two or three weeks of honeymoon maybe in the Bahamas, Montego Bay in Jamaica, Las Vegas or in Paris. After all the love and romance, there is a shift from wedding to marriage. You face the reality of knowing who you married. The days of marketing are over. Like they say LOVE IS BLIND BUT MARRIAGE IS AN EYE OPENER!!!!!! In a nutshell, HAPPINESS DOES NOT LAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lets look at JOY. JOY is not about feeling as opposed to HAPPINESS. JOY CAN ONLY BE ACCESSED THROUGH ONE SOURCE!!!!!! Romans 14:17 says FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS NOT MEAT AND DRINK; BUT RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND PEACE, AND JOY IN THE HOLY GHOST. In other words, JOY COMES THROUGH THE HOLY GHOST which also means YOUR ENCOUNTER WITH GOD AND THE SALVATION THROUGH JESUS CHRIST makes JOY VISIBLE OR REAL IN YOUR LIFE. At the this junction, WHAT DO YOU CHOOSE, HAPPINESS OR JOY? Happiness is temporal but Joy is permanent. Happiness cannot keep you in the days of challenges, tragedies, betrayal, and trying times. What will keep and take you through lifes issues is JOY. JOY IS AN ATTRIBUTE FROM THE HOLY GHOST OR KNOWN AS ONE OF THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT (Galatians 5:22-23). Please embrace salvation through Jesus Christ and experience JOY. Or if you already saved, but still struggle with sin, repent and rededicate your life to Jesus Christ and be regenerated. Nehemiah 8:10b says THE JOY OF THE LORD IS YOUR STRENGTH. Dollar, British Pound Sterling, Euros, etc are the means of aiding your activities, BUT THE JOY OF THE LORD IS YOUR STRENGTH.
