What does it mean that God is a jealous God? Is not jealousy a bad thing? Yes, if its mixed with sin and selfishness. Jealousy is normally mixed with the human condition, human sinful behavior, like being self-centered, fearful to lose somebody, or wanting to be controlling and in charge or even be worshipped by somebody else. Do not apply those evil practices that clings to jealousy and try to apply it to God. When the Bible tells us that God is jealous for us, it begins by explaining you should not worship anything on earth. God MUST be first in your life. This is the spiritual foundation for the beginning of the Ten Commandments and the entire theological argument of Jesus Christ. When we put God second, He becomes jealous or angry (righteous anger without sin) because He knows we are hurting ourselves and our relationship with Him and others.
