What does it mean to settle? I think sometimes, quite without realizing it, we accept “good enough,” or a certain number of failures, or barely acceptable results. We may claim our hands are tied, or blame our work load or our schedules or our boss or our circumstances, to justify doing what’s practical (just to survive) instead of pursuing what’s possible. Over time, “settling” at work erodes our joy and sense of purpose, and certainly our growth. Ask yourself where have you settled at work – in what relationship, with what class, with what student group or what material, when more is possible? A legacy is built one day - and one decision - at a time.
