What does it take to open my mind, to be open enough to see what - TopicsExpress

What does it take to open my mind, to be open enough to see what is really going on? Seems to me the first thing that is vitally important is an intention to understand what is going on...this means i must be honest to the fact that i actually do not know, a tough mindset to adopt in a world searching for security and certainty...but if my intent is to understand and i am honest about what i see, i may find some questions help to provide insight into my own behavior... 1--Am i being objective? Do i see what is, or is it just an image with which i am familiar? (honesty very important here) 2--Am i being patient, or am i jumping to conclusions? 3--Am i attentive to the timing involved? Knowing when is equally important as knowing how, it seems... 4--Am i being consistent, both with myself and others? These have been helpful questions for me to keep an eye on my own behavior and where i may be deceiving myself into what i want to believe, rather than seeing what is actually here.. Honesty with oneself and an intention to understand will begin to open the mind to new possibilities, of this i have no doubt. With an open mind, one can really begin to watch the flower of understanding unfold...if i am attentive to the unfolding, attentiveness includes this understanding, enfolds the ongoing unfolding...exclusions we make (of ourself or others) are a red flag we can see the effects of in the world today...to me, this is interesting stuff...what i do not know is really damn interesting, and what i do know is old news i tell myself to maintain an idea, this seems fairly clear to me. We do not know how open we can be unless we see how tightly we are closed. Be honest and laugh at yourself as these things are noticed, and watch the flower of understanding unfold...:-)
