What drives people to excuse, or even deny great historical events? We often see apologists on this forum on both sides attempting to excuse the actions committed in the name of their beliefs, and rather than condemnation of the people involved we usually see excuse. They werent true X or Well, we were instrumental in ending Y. Theres even been a couple of Holocaust deniers, although I dont think they lasted long. So what drives us, as humans regardless of faith or belief, to do this?
