What exactly is needed to end affirmative action? Jessie Jackson - TopicsExpress

What exactly is needed to end affirmative action? Jessie Jackson once answered that what was needed was the end of racism. In other words, it will never end. As racism will always exist even if only in episodic fashion, every episode could be used to claim it is still with us, ergo, the need for affirmative action. As the claim now is that racism is structural and hidden there is no need for concrete evidence to claim it is there. Anecdote and episode suffices to perpetuate preference. Moreover, as such claims are at best unconscionable to continue exclusionary preference it can only serve to exacerbate racial antagonism; which can then be used to claim racism. Nice vicious cycle you have there to keep racial preferences forever!
