What happened to the Quality of USA Products If you all look - TopicsExpress

What happened to the Quality of USA Products If you all look back at all the stone bridges {which I believe for trains} but look how long they lasted, they do not rust or rot and as far as I know are earthquake proof. They were built to last forever unlike the steel ones that were built and are now rusting out and needs replacing. Is the reason for not building new bridges that way today is the cost or the look of them {which I think are beautiful} or would they not hold up to all the traffic that there is today? It is just hard to understand why they would not still build them with todays technology so they might last 200 years or more. I am not sure how long of a span you could go but I am sure you can go as far as you want with enough columns to support it. I believe most companies these days make their products to last only a certain amount of time so you will need to buy a new one by that amount of time. It is like how many times have you bought a new TV or a new washer or dryer and buy the time the warranty runs out something screws up if it doesnt fail altogether so you need to pay $125 an hour to have your friendly Maytag guy who is always so bored in the commercials it would seem like he would do it free just for something to do. {You would have to be a certain age to remember those Maytag commercials}. Years ago everybody was proud of buying MADE IN AMERICA tag on any of the products they bought but over the last 30 to 40 years everybody is buying Japanese and china and Taiwan products because they sell them for half the price. The American made products went through the roof because of the unions killing the companies just trying to compete with these other countries but cannot because of the wages and benefits that union workers get for their so called good work. I buy products just like most people for the price because everything today is disposable products. Steve Fortin St. Johnsbury
