What happened to the days when the military was self sustained. Privates and extra duty soldiers cut grass, cleaned and did all the other post maintenance. Soldiers manned the gates, policed the roads and cooked the food. We train soldiers for plumbing, construction, electrical and various other skills, yet we utilize government contractors who cost 5 times as much as the soldiers. How about we not reduce our military force, but reduce our contractor force.
