What happens after a muslim realizes that he has been cornered and he has absolutly no rational answer to come up with ? 1- He escapes the discussion in order to save his face . They do this by using several metods and tricks : A - They end the discussion by finding an irrelevant excuse , like you insulted my religion or my beloved muhammad . This is mostly used by young muslims who have not been in many debates. Let him escape , you can not do anything about it. B - They insult you , your family , your belief and anything that is morally valuable for you. They continue this untill you get angry or you realize that there is no meaning in continuing that discussion and you leave. 2- They use logical fallacies of which ad hominem and circular reasoning are the most used ones . As a born muslim we are grown up with these kind of logical fallacies . Even children can question Islam in a way that clerics or so called Islamic scholars can not answer rationally . That is when clerics use logical fallacies. As a child you don`t realize this trick and you learn the same way to defend Islam in the future. 3- They change the subject .They have many different metods in achiving that but usually they do that by attacking a non relevant subject .The opponent ( non - muslim ) is so sure about his logical argument and he thinks that the discussion is soon over . But suddenly he finds himself in a defencive posotion and within a minute the subject is changed. Now he must start defending himself against some childish accusations that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic of the discussion. In order to avoid falling into these traps you must make some logical agreements with your opponent before starting any kind of discussion: 1- First of all you must make it clear what the subject of discussion is going to be. 2- Define the subject of your discussion cleraly . For ex. before starting a debate about slavery , pedophilia or rape in Islam , define those words first. Some debates like pedophilia in Islam can be won already at this stage because there is no definition for pedophilia in Islam. Pedophilia is accepted in Islam under the pretext of marriage. 3- Do not let them change the subject. One of the usual tricks ( logical fallacies ) that muslims use is to attack other religions. A -Make it sure and agree with your opponent that the discussion is about Islam and not other religions B- Remind your muslims opponent that what other ideologies , cultures and religions say , does not make the inhuman teaching of Islam a human one. In the best case it proves that other ideologies are wrong too. Also remember : Using a logical fallacy , no matter which one , or / and insulting the opponent is another way of accepting the defeat but ashamed to admit that.
