What havent I been up to? That should be the question :) Deryn had his Endocrine appointment today - there is a lot of good news! Ok so there might be a bit of technical speak which to be honest, Im not sure I even understand - I think those of you who understand about blood sugars may well know far more than me. The endocrine Dr saw Deryn today and told him that from the tests they could see that his blood sugars went down to 2.1 and that while it was this low, his growth hormone production was 6.7. Means nothing to me but 7.5 is spot on so, hes not that far behind considering. He is producing a small amount of testosterone which they think is Deryn starting the very beginnings of puberty by himself, theyre hoping that they can get as much growing in as possible before puberty starts - theyve decided to give him a 6 month course of growth hormone which he can give to himself via an injection. For the first time in a very very long time, Deryn is now the perfect weight for his height! This was amazing to hear as youll all remember the issues weve had with his weight gain or lack of. So, very soon, Deryn will start growth hormone injections and in 6 months time theyll reassess his growth and well go from there. It was so nice to hear that Deryn is actually doing really well :) The website has been updated and is looking lovely with all of the links and ways that people can donate to the charity. Ive been linking eBay, PayPal and JustGiving accounts to each other and now my brain is frazzled! All worth it though....
