What home front command doesnt tell you: when you lie down next to your car on the side of the highway... in July... at around noon... the asphalt is frikkin HOT! I was just driving toward Bet Shemesh as the recent, seemingly endless list of areas being bombed was read out over the radio. Started to hear the names of moshavim quite close to where I was. Sure enough, a second later, the sirens started to blare. Im not sure whats worse: 1. Knowing that your entire country is under attack. 2. Knowing that your teenage child is home alone, and is hopefully taking the siren seriously. 3. Knowing that your two soldier sons are the front line of Israels defense (even though only one is currently in Gaza). 4. Knowing that there are demonstrations all over the world, where people are employing violent antisemitic rhetoric to demand that Israel stop defending itself. And the sane people of the world -- who seem to be in shock -- dont have a clue what to do about it. But hey, I dont know what to do about it either. :-(
