What if Im ultimately just a vessel of wrath? What if some of my loved ones, though they appear to be Christian, are just vessels of wrath fitted for destruction? Can I truly be happy and rejoice amid the possibility that people who are dear to me are not loved by God and were created merely as a tool or a pawn? Calvinists do not seem to grasp how utterly horrific and disheartening this doctrine is, and how much fear and insecurity that would ensue from it. But the Calvinist argues that it doesnt matter what we think, God can do as he pleases, and doesnt have to appeal to our sense of justice. And while that is certainly true, it doesnt imply what they seem to think. The truth is that Calvinists take the mystique of God to ridiculous extremes. The passages that describe Gods ways as being above our ways, and His thoughts being above our thoughts, Calvinists seem to read into those passages something thats not there. God doesnt have to act according to what WE think is right. Well yes, but its not that black and white. Our whole concept of whats right and wrong comes FROM God. Its one thing to say that His ways are beyond comprehension, but its altogether different to say that His concept of fairness is radically different from ours. But thats not even the worst part of this frightening doctrine. The worst part is that when God creates the person, he holds that person ACCOUNTABLE for unbelief. Even though...He purposely made them that way. Hes making them sin, and then punishing them for it. Stop and think about this. Think about this heretical idea that God had malicious intentions for a good percentage of His creation. I ask you: is that really the God you see in the Bible? The God you pray to? The God whos mercy endures forever? The God who is the definition of light and love?
