What is Common in All Successful People? By : Awdhesh Singh 12/12/2009 10:05:33 PM Success has no single path and no single address. People can acquire success in different areas. Some successful people hop the limelight and become celebrity and known by the world by their name. However, there are millions of successful people whose names we do not know. Yet the people around them know them to be successful as they have acquired what they wanted. Success is difficult to define, yet we often call a person successful, if he has been able to achieve the goals which he has set for his life. If a person want to become rich and acquire wealth, he is successful if he achieve large wealth even if he fails to become the richest person of the world. If one want peace and attains it, he can be called successful. However, success is a matter of degree where a person achieves a goal as compared to the highest goal. For example, if the maximum marks in a examination paper is 100 and the highest score is say 90% and the person gets 85% and falls in top 1 % of the people, he can be called successful as he scored better marks than 99% of people and only 1% people are better than him. The person who achieves the highest marks in a particular arena is often called the topper or the leader. We have always some leader in every area. The list of the wealthiest people is well known but there is only one wealthiest in the world. The king, President or the Prime minister of a country is often the most powerful person. There are leaders in nonmaterial worlds too. For example, there are actors who are well known for their acting talents i.e. the skill of portraying the emotions of other people on screen or in play. There are writers who can pen a fiction of non-fiction that are liked by millions. There are successful journalists, teachers, parents, officer, managers, doctors, advocates, painters, carpenters, interior decorators, musicians, singers etc. The list is endless and apparently in every profession, every organization and indeed in every family there are successful and failed people. A person may be a failure even if he has acquired all wealth, all power and all position in the society. Such people are quite frustrated because they fail to achieve what they desire. Often they end up becoming mentally and physical ill and even commit suicide since they fail to cope up with their failures. It is difficult to visualize a common trait or talent in all successful people. Yet in truth, no one can be successful unless he is gifted with one single quality or he develops this quality in him soon in his life. Sixth Sense: The Power of Knowing the Unknown The difference between a successful and failed person lies in the difference of the ability of he person to know the thoughts of another person or know an event before it happens. We all have the same five senses which enable us to know the material world. We have our ears to hear, our eyes to see, our skin to feel, our tongue to taste and our nose to smell. All normal people have more or less same power of the five sensual organs. These five senses enable a man to know and understand the material things of this world. Scientific inventions have enabled man to increase the power of these five senses by using external instruments. One can use microscope or telescope to increase the power of his eyes or he can use earphone to increase the power of hearing. However, we all have yet another important ability that plays an extremely important role in our lives. This ability is the capacity of the man to understand or read the thought of other people from their verbal or nonverbal communication and based on the knowledge of the thoughts of the others, predict the future course of events before they happens. This ability is often called Sixth Sense as it is beyond all five senses. The Interconnection of Thoughts There had been many attempts by the scientists to know the thoughts of other men. It is widely believed that the thoughts emerge in mind in the form of electromagnetic pulses which can be measured by sophisticated instruments. There had been many movies and fictions where some instruments had been developed by the scientist using which a man can read/hear the thoughts of other people. Yet in real life, no such instrument had ever been developed nor is it likely to be developed because, thoughts are nonmaterial and no instrument can measure a nonmaterial reality. An instrument made of material things can only sense a material reality. The thoughts of a person can be understood only by another nonmaterial entity that is the mind of the person where all thoughts of the person reside. These thoughts seem to pervade beyond the boundaries of the physical body and spread over the entire world. Thus in some way the thoughts of all human beings and indeed all living beings seems to be interconnected. Thus a person can easily sense the thoughts of others if his thoughts have extended beyond the self. All of us have this ability and the human life is simply impossible if people are unable to know the thoughts of other people in their day to day lives. How can you get the work done in your office or in your home, unless you can understand the thoughts of other people? Power of Knowing Mind of Others All successful men have great ability to know the thoughts of others. We can take an example of any successful person and the conclusion is same. Take the case of great leaders like Gandhi, Buddha or even Hitler. They all knew the thoughts of millions of people which the masses never expressed or they were scared of admitting. In the first half of the nineteenth century, when war filled the world and the feeling of nationalism, patriotism and hatred for the enemy was popular feelings, Gandhi preached nonviolence, tolerance and Truthfulness. People called him madman, half-naked fakir and rejected him. Yet he was able to speak the mind of millions of Indians and humanity which was always in their heart but they were unable to speak. On the contrary, Hitler was able to know the mind of Germans after the defeat of World War II and he united the thoughts of all Germans to make Germany the most powerful army of the world. I business world too, all entrepreneurs know what the people want and produce the goods or services which are liked by the people. They know the desires of the people even before the people themselves come to know about their own desires. A good musician is one who knows the pulse of the people and fulfils the desires of the masses. In an organization only such a person can be successful, who knows the mind of the other employees of the company and the mind of their customers. All successful parents know the mind of their child. All successful people without exception are those who not only know the thoughts of others but also know the art of influencing the thoughts of others. These two abilities are not independent of each other as only one who knows the thoughts of others can influence the thoughts of others. It is so because in the nonmaterial world, all thoughts are interconnected like wires of the telephone. Only one who is connected with this wiring can send his signal to other person. Yet there is no science for knowing the thoughts of others which can be known only thought intuition and experience. Developing Sixth Sense The development of sixth sense is not a science but a skill and an art. This skill can be developed only by constant practice and self-realization. The key to develop the skill lies in reducing the reliance of sensual perception and using mind as the instrument to understand the things. Just like the muscles of a person become stronger when he repeatedly uses his body to perform difficult functions like lifting weight, running, or other workouts, the mind of the person too gets stronger by its increased use. However, mind too seems to be divided into two different compartments, one dealing with logic and the other dealing with emotions. The logical mind is said to reside on the Left side of the Brain while the emotional mind seems to reside on the right side of the brain. Therefore, if the man uses his mind to understand the world in a logical way, his logical mind gets stronger but his emotional mind gets weaker. It is the emotional mind which is the source of the sixth sense which connects all living creatures of the world. Hence to develop the sixth sense , one has to experience emotions and deal with people rather than matter. Love is, therefore, the most important method to develop the sixth sense which connects the loving minds of all people and enables a man to connect to the minds of others with the bond of love. All successful people therefore, are full of love. The excessive love, however, often creates hatred for others which destroys the sixth sense. Hence a successful person has to balance his love and hatred. The other aspect of love is compassion which comes by feeling the emotions of others. Compassion develops automatically when a person experiences the feelings of other human beings. Often, people who had been strangers, develop such a strong bond by living together and sharing the feelings that they can even give their life for saving the life of others. It is only by love and compassion that one can extend his mind beyond his body and pervades the universe. This gives the ability of sensing and influencing the thoughts of others which makes a man successful. The Formula of Success The only common ability of all successful people is their ability to understand the minds of others and influence the thoughts of other people. This ability is often called sixth sense. We are all gifted with the sixth sense but we have to develop it more by using the emotional side of our mind i.e. by bringing love and compassion in our life. And a person full of love can never fail and bound to achieve success in life.
