What is Data Matrix? Data Matrix code is a part of two dimensional barcode family consisting of black and white squares or rectangular grid with matrix dimensions from 10×10 to 144×144. The data to be encoded contains characters or numbers. Encoded data length depends on the numbers of cell, normally size of the matrix data varies from a few bytes up to 1556 bytes. According to the ECC200 standards, Error correction codes are mainly used to increase consistency, so that the message of the cells, even if it is damaged can be read. It has the capacity to store up to 2335 alphanumeric characters. Data Matrix: Application area: Data Matrix is primarily used in United States and Europe for marking small data, with the ability to encode 50 characters in a symbol. The area in which this application dominates is laser marking and directs part marking- both are used in electronic, automotive and aerospace industry. Data Matrix is also used in document management applications, general logistic purposes, medical / health industry and postal services.
