What is most important TODAY? John 15:16 (HCSB) 16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you. I appointed you that you should go out and produce fruit and that your fruit should remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you. Some people would say that we should choose to do good so God will hear our prayers for a new car, a better job, a bigger house to clean and pay taxes, for our spouse to do what we want without our even asking. This spiritually shallow logic brings condemnation. What is a better choice? 1. Going to see a sick friend 2. Going to the movie theater to see a good movie 3. Going to church 4. Sleeping in on Sunday 5. Taking a day off just to do nothing 6. Writing letters to inmates in jail or prison 7. Going shopping 8. Spending time with God in prayer and study Which of these will bring the fruit spoken of in today’s scripture? People do what they are compelled to do by the dynamical influence of the moment or they just do what they want to do. Do you want to be an obedient servant of God and produce fruit? Ecclesiastes 3:1–8 (HCSB) The Mystery of Time 3 There is an occasion for everything, and a time for every activity under heaven: 2 a time to give birth and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to uproot; 3 a time to kill and a time to heal; a time to tear down and a time to build; 4 a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance; 5 a time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; a time to embrace and a time to avoid embracing; 6 a time to search and a time to count as lost; a time to keep and a time to throw away; 7 a time to tear and a time to sew; a time to be silent and a time to speak; 8 a time to love and a time to hate; a time for war and a time for peace. Everything has a time and place in your world and life. Set priorities today. What is most important today? David M Sealy 11/12/13
