What is negatively affecting the reputation of Govt. Schools. Dear Editor, Sachnews Jammu Kashmir, kindly post this article... i have utilized lot of time and energy in writing this enlightened piece...Hope you will post it to encourage we budding writers...Allah bless you sir.... Ulfat Anjan Wani : WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR GOVT. SCHOOLS Govt. schools have become objects of criticism nowadays. Are these schools really worth to be criticized ...? if yes, who is responsible...? Let me throw light on some points in this regard... Govt. schools indeed had a noble status once when They hardly had to compete with their cousins, the Private schools. Nobody criticized the existence of those Noble Schools on earth for Scholars and philosophers were being produced from those institutions. They were sacred centers of noble knowledge.Every one looked at those Institutions with respect. There was obviously no criticism. But with the passage of time Those noble and grand learning centres turned into worthless objects of criticism. Why ? With the setting up of Their cousins, The private schools; The change in syllabi and curriculum;the change in teaching strategies and techniques;etc. the noble schools are loosing their value day by day. Today we find Govt.and private schools side by side in every nook and corner of the earth. The competition is really very stiff. Two different institutions for same people. So there has to be a difference. But the question is why are Govt. schools not able to compete with the Private ones...?Private institutions, more fashionable, mor e facilitated with strict policies defeat their opposites with running feet.Nodoubt the innocent Govt. is trying to motivate parents with new plannings, new policies, new strategies, etc but all in vain.Dear Govt. people are not as gullible as you believe. They can well percieve every design of yours. No doubt Govt came with plans and schemes like SSA schooling at door steps of people, with free Mid Day Meals(MDM),Free text books, free uniforms, scholarships etc but still there is no success. All these schemes themselves have become objects of criticism.Let me comment on few.MDM criticized as Mind Destroying Meals have no educational purpose at all.The Govt seems to be full aware of the fact that there are only poor children enrolled in the schools who can not afford to even a life giving Meal. Dear Govt todays school children spend more on Lays and Kurkurrays in a single day than You can spend on MDM of about 20 pry.school kids in a day...What is the fun of these meals then?It surely keeps a full teacher buzy throughout the day in monitoring these meals. He also has to motivate the shopkeeper with delicate tongue, and lowered head for about 10 months till the amount is received. No matter how hard the monitors of these meals try,the quality could never be maintained at such invisible amounts per child. This amount was red on cooks and children could have been utilized in a better way. Free text books, another luxury seems to bring water in ones mouth. But as soon as you look at them you come to know about the trash. The books are lacking in quality but abound in quantity. At Pry. level you can see Only one book for History, geography, social science namely Mr.Environmental science. But you will hardly find topics related to these subjects in the book. Also cheap material has been utilized in the books.Misprints, low image clarity, invisible portions are frequently encountered in these Free Books. Also the poor infrastructure, lack of delicate facilities, lack of fashionable furniture and rooms ,lack of qualitative books and additional significant subjects like computer, language and grammar etc. (As offered by the private schools) , are also responsible for the doom of These Govt.schools.Let me also comment a little on the duties of teachers in such schools . the teachers, doubtlessly more talented and qualified than those in private schools also have more important work to do than mere teaching the pupils. They have to prepare census datas, search for drop outs, locate CWSN,mobilize communities, perform election duties, work as BLOs,compile child profiles in their areas, monitor construction of school buildings, maintain huge accounts etc.All these factors are negatively affecting the honor and reputation of the Govt. schools. The Govt should come up with more effective strategy and planning in order to guard her reputation.Dear Govt. The rich can send their kids even to Jupiter but the poor can not leave the earth. There are now only poor children in your schools. Kindly think about their future. The teacher cannot blindly row the boat to harbor. It is not for nothing that a husband is beaten with a broom by his wife if he refuses to send his child to a private school.......... By Ulfat Anjan Wani
