What is our moral obligation to our fellow human beings? Simple - TopicsExpress

What is our moral obligation to our fellow human beings? Simple enough question, but it seems to encompass so much more than whats on the surface. Moral, as defined by whom..?? Human, as opposed to demonic presences in the likeness of human-flesh, or do we give the benefit of the doubt to anything we see as such being really human or anything we read in a post as being typed from a keyboard by a real person..?? Some of the thoughts that come to my own mind are that we can never go by the worlds definition of what is moral or obligatory unless it can be supported by Gods Word without refutation by Same. Every non-Christian that exists knows at least ONE verse of Scripture: Judge not lest ye be judged and they misuse it all the time toward any Christian THEY have judged to be easy prey as a target for it. So one thing I think is imperative in any relationship we have with others is to KNOW the Word as much as we use it and to use it only up to that point (NOT to say we should ever stop--at ANY point). If they dont want to receive whatever you have to share, leave them to themselves and keep seeking others who do. If they want to know more, theyll inquire--we dont have to bash them with Scripture or waste any time trying to cram it down their throat. But we need to be responsible enough to RECOGNIZE when any inquiry from them is genuine or frivolous, and react accordingly. Even the Pharisees and Sadducees inquired of Jesus, but more often than not to futilely try to trap Him. Its no big thing for some of satans kids to try to do the same thing to some of us. By the same token, there WERE occasions when a member of these denominations sought to learn of Him with a sincere heart. Nicodemus was an example (story in John 3). So was the rich young ruler mentioned in Luke 18:18, the lawyer at Matt. 22:36, and--at least in my own opinion--even the question of the pagan Roman ruler Pilate, What is Truth..?? (John 18:38--and I believe this because I honestly believe Pilate DIDNT know). Gods Word tells us not to cast our pearls before swine or give that which is holy to the dogs (Matt. 7:6). We are told to just let the dead bury their dead (Matt. 8:22), to depart from a fool (Prov. 14:7), avoid those who cause division and offenses contrary to the doctrine we have received (Rom. 16:17) and foolish and unlearned questions, contentions, and strivings about the (Old Testament) Law (Titus 3:9; II Tim. 2:23), because all of this is detrimental to our OWN Spiritual growth and well-being. The old axiom, Let sleeping dogs lie is not entirely unscriptural (see Isa. 56:10). It behooves us to know how to tell who those types are that the Word admonishes us about (perhaps proper subject-material for yet another thread-study). So then, what DO we do--with regard to our fellow-man..?? I believe our relation to others in this world is secondary to our relationship with God and the Holy Spirit will cause the proper adjustment of all the rest in His own timing and to suit His own purpose. In other words, as long as we are concentrating solely on our relationship to Jesus, all the rest will fall right in line the way its supposed to. We are given ONE work to do (John 6:29), one two-part commandment (Matt. 22:37-40, repeated to relate to only His own--US--at John 13:34), and really only ONE job--that of sowing the Seed (Matt. 13:3-8, 19-23; 28:19-20), and here--when you find an unreceptive heart, or bad ground as it were, you move on in search of better ground and those who want to hear what you are given to share WITH them. You NEVER get hung-up with unruly children or bad ground, in other words). Above all, I think, is to be yourself--just who you are. Let any changes that are made be made by the Spirit dwelling within you (dont push yourself, let Him lead). As those changes are made--and they will be--keep on being yourself, because you are becoming different with every stage of Spiritual growth; you are becoming all you can be, the ultimate YOU--all that God had in mind when He created you, and all He has in mind now since He gave you rebirth.
