What is required for our street runs. Doing a street run is not - TopicsExpress

What is required for our street runs. Doing a street run is not like doing our weekly kitchen. We will be going to some dark and desolate places to find these people who need our help. We will see people who are in absolute desperate situations. A street run is not for the faint hearted. Requirements are: Hats, Gloves, Socks, Underwear, Soap, Toilet Paper, Toothbrush and Toothpaste, deoderant. As for food, we normally carry a box of sandwiches and flasks of tea/coffee, if you wish to cook some food to bring with us then by all means do so, just remember it will need to be carried around. I always bring some sleeping bags and a few other bits. Remember that PCSOs have no legal right to prevent the homeless coming to us, if they attempt to block their way, then just inform them that they are wrong, DO NOT get into an argument with them as this will just give them ammo to stop us and even have us arrested. If they physically try to stop any of you doing what we do then let me or others know, we will then have them arrested for assault. I say this because we have had run ins with a couple of PCSOs on Princes ave before, However the majority of the Police and PCSOs are on our side and do help us out. Wrap up really well for this as we will be out for some time and it will be bloody cold. After we have shown a number of team members where and how to conduct a street run, then we could perhaps organise teams to go out more regularly, which with winter upon us would be a very good thing. Sarah and Frances have been out a few times recently. I am out and about with the homeless of our parish semi regularly so I do know where most of them lay there heads.
