What is the shaking in Adventist church? I asked the meaning of the shaking I had seen, and was shown that it would be caused by the straight testimony called forth by the counsel of the True Witness to the Laodiceans. This will have its effect upon the heart of the receiver, and will lead him to exalt the standard and pour forth the straight truth. Some will not bear this straight testimony. They will rise up against it, and this is what will cause a shaking among God’s people. CET 176.1 I saw that the testimony of the True Witness has not been half heeded. The solemn testimony upon which the destiny of the church hangs has been lightly esteemed, if not entirely disregarded. This testimony must work deep repentance; all who truly receive it will obey it, and be purified. CET 176.2 What is the straight testimony? The Last portion of Rev 3:18 will help us .. ...anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. “eyesalve” – they were blind, meaning “lack of spiritual discernment.” So the eyesalve is something that will bring us the spiritual discernment. The Bible likens the church with body. Each has different functionality and responsibility. Evangelists may be the mouth; medical missionaries may be the hands; literature evangelists may be the feet; but what is the eye of the church? 1 Sam 9:9 Beforetime in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, thus he spake, Come, and let us go to the seer: for [he that is] now [called] a Prophet was beforetime called a Seer.) Prophets were called “Seer” because they could see. The eye of the church is the prophet. This church needs a prophet so we can see our true conditions. If you reject the messages of the prophet, you are blind. These people have the spirit of prophecy in their bookshelf, but they reject them by not even care to read them or by reading them but not following the counsel written therein. The blind man’s eyes being opened. When the Pharisees asked him who has healed your eyes? The blind man replied, according to the same author, John: John 9:17 They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet. That’s an application of how our spiritual eyes can be opened—it’s through the prophet of God. The spirit of prophecy will open your spiritual eyes! When read and followed, it will restore back the spiritual discernment of good and evil. Who will be shaken out? The wicked out of the “denominational church” OR God’s people out of man’s structures to form His true church? “Sister White told us, as we three stood there on the railroad depot platform that a terrible storm of persecution was coming, just like a windstorm that blew down every standing object. There was not a Seventh-Day Adventist to be seen. They, like the disciples forsook Christ and fled. All who had sought positions were never seen any more. After the storm there was a calm. Then the Adventists arose like a great flock of sheep, but were without shepherds. They all united in earnest prayer for help and wisdom, and the Lord answered them by helping them choose leaders among them, who had never sought positions before. They prayed earnestly for the aid of the Holy Spirit which was poured out upon them, making them fully ready for service. They then went forth “fair as the moon, clear as the sun and terrible as an army with banners” to give the message to all the world. I (Will Ross) was astonished, and asked if that applied to Loma Linda, as we were looking in that direction. Sister White replied to my question by stating that it applied to the entire denominational world.
