Identify the schools/programs that fit you best. Create a comparison chart. For graduate students, get a positive response from the department regarding your intent to apply. 4. Find out which qualities the school values most, admission rate, the admission requirements, and deadlines. 5. Register and study for the required tests. Nail those tests. 6. Acquire the community service, extracurricular activities, teaching/research experience, work required for a successful applicant at these schools. 7. Re-evaluate if the schools you intend to apply to are still a good fit knowing your test results, academic performance, activities, etc. Maybe consider new schools. 8. Write winning essays. 9.
