What we have all been waiting for... Welcome baby Arwen, born at Happy Hooves in the early morning hours of 30 September! Those who follow our posts will remember we discovered (about three weeks ago) that the youngest of the Friesian mares taken in by Happy Hooves two months ago are pregnant. This was unexpected and a huge surprise not to mention exciting given that we have never seen a horse foal born at Happy Hooves. Night after night, we sat up waiting, but nothing! Eventually, we gave up the evening wait and rather rushed out early morning (every morning) to see if the parcel has been delivered but nothing... So last night, with the worst behind us in terms of the move, I decided to ignore the alarm this morning only to have Neville rush back into the room at 5:30 screaming get up, get up - we have a baby! So here she is.... beautiful and healthy from what we can tell! Congratulations to Andrea and James Bowie - you are the proud owners of another little Friesian girl - she is your bonus for extending yourselves to help these horses who desperately needed a new home where they would be loved and cared for! Cant wait for you to meet her!
