“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.” (Ecc.9:10) Yes, what a good advice it is! The proverb, “Make haste while the sun shines,” also motivates us to make use of time. Prov.20:4 rebukes laziness as, “The lazy man will not plough because of winter; He will beg during harvest and have nothing.” Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you (Joh.12:35). Redeem the time, because the days are evil (Eph.5:16). Therefore, whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might. You are indebted to do as unto God, not unto man. The night is coming when no one can work. Are there not twelve hours in the day? This is the daytime. This is the land of the living and you are called to work. Sleep is the reason for the lazy one to not to work. As a door turns on its hinges, so does the lazy man on his bed. When a person wakes him up from one side, he will turn to the other side and sleep. When he wakes him from the other side, he will turn to this side and sleep. He will turn here and there like a door. There is no improvement in his life. The lazy man says, “There is a lion in the road! A fierce lion is in the streets!” He will not go for work. Has not the Lord promised you to trample the young lion? The Lord has given you the authority to trample the lion and the scorpion. Hallelujah! The lazy man buries his hand in the bowl; It wearies him to bring it back to his mouth. This is the spiritual laziness. Having known the will of the Lord very much, we do not do that purposely. Though the Lord says, “Love, get reconciled and forgive,” we do not do that. What a constrained laziness in which we live today! May the Lord change our attitudes today. Prayer: O Lord! Give me grace to do it with my might, whatever my hand finds to do. Bless me. Amen!
